Claude Code is a coding agent. Matrix OS is a computer and workspace where Claude Code can run. You can use them together. The useful comparison is between running Claude Code through Anthropic's own local, cloud or SSH surfaces and running it on a persistent Matrix computer that also hosts your other tools and agents.
Anthropic's current desktop documentation describes parallel sessions, worktrees, app previews, cloud sessions that continue after the app closes and SSH sessions on a remote machine. Claude Code already supports serious remote work. Matrix should be evaluated for the environment you need around the agent, not on a claim that Claude must stop when your laptop closes.

What Claude Code already provides
The Claude Code desktop app, CLI and cloud sessions already provide diff review, parallel sessions and web previews. Cloud sessions continue after the desktop app closes, and SSH can use a remote machine you operate. Matrix adds a persistent project computer that you can share with other native agents and inspect directly.
The location of the actual files matters. A local session uses your local folder; an Anthropic cloud session uses a cloud environment; SSH uses your host. Check which one holds your dependencies, secrets, services and test data before you leave a long task running. Anthropic's cloud guide explains its remote workflow.
When Matrix adds value
Matrix gives the project a stable computer independent of any one agent interface. Put the repository, development services, browser and supporting files there, then start Claude Code in its terminal. A second task can use Codex or another native tool in a separate worktree without moving the project to a new environment. You can inspect the same files and running services directly and reopen them from another device.
This is most useful when your job depends on long-lived local state: a database, a browser login, a test server, a collection of working files or a toolchain shared across agents. Matrix's saved chats and instructions add context, but they do not replace Claude Code's own model or project instructions. A fair test
