EU-first AI infrastructure

EU-first by design.
Built around your work.

Matrix is an EU-first AI infrastructure and workspace company. We put European priorities—privacy, infrastructure control and model choice—at the heart of the workspace, bringing AI chat, agents, files and internal apps together for your company.

EU-first is more than a server location.

It is our company and product focus: building AI infrastructure and workspaces around the needs of European teams. Privacy, open infrastructure and deployment choice shape how we build Matrix. European hosting is one part of that approach.

What is a private company AI workspace?

It is a place to bring approved context, AI tools and working software together. In Matrix, files, apps, terminals and agents share your Matrix computer. A team pilot starts with a specific workflow, scoped access and a named reviewer.

Explore industry workflows such as maritime handovers, manufacturing quality documentation and consulting research.

European hosting, with a clear data boundary.

Matrix offers hosted workspace regions in Falkenstein and Nuremberg, Germany, alongside US locations. Starter uses an automatic region; region selection depends on the plan. Confirm your selected location and capacity before deployment.

The hosted service is operated by US-based Finna Labs Inc. Workspace location does not determine all processing: authentication, support, payments, analytics, integrations and AI providers can operate in other countries.

Self-hosted AI workspace: what can you operate?

The preview installer puts the Matrix browser workspace, gateway and local Postgres on your compatible Linux VPS. You operate access protection, TLS, patches, backups and upgrades. The runtime is open source under AGPL-3.0-or-later.

This preview does not establish a turnkey on-premise enterprise platform, complete hosted-feature parity or an air-gapped local LLM workspace. External providers may still process AI requests. Read the self-host guide before evaluation.

Agent and model choice, without a blanket promise.

Use supported agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Pi and Gemini CLI through their supported account or provider flows. Available models, tools and billing depend on that agent, provider and plan. Your Matrix computer plan and AI usage are separate.

For a multi-model workflow, verify every route and its terms. Do not assume that a local or open-weight model can run through every Matrix feature. The current provider-base-URL configuration path requires a public HTTPS endpoint; local/private inference needs separate qualification.

Is Matrix a GDPR-compliant AI workspace?

Matrix does not make a blanket GDPR-compliance claim for every deployment. A privacy-first evaluation begins by mapping the actual data flows and agreeing the applicable DPA, subprocessors, international-transfer safeguards, retention and access requirements.

German workspace hosting alone does not establish GDPR compliance or EU-only processing. Review the published privacy policy and your organization’s requirements before using personal or sensitive data.

Plan a focused evaluation.

Bring one recurring job, an approved data sample, the system owner and your deployment constraints. Validate output quality, required permissions, approval boundaries and the ability to export or delete the pilot data before considering a broader rollout.
