Account data and deletion
Export or migrate your data, then request account deletion with a five-day grace period.
Rollout status
This flow is being prepared for release. The account page becomes available after the platform deployment and authentication configuration are complete. Until then, contact support for a deletion request.
Open Account data and deletion from your account menu, or visit the account deletion page. Sign in to manage your own account. You can use this page even if you have never subscribed or created a computer.
Before requesting deletion
Download your account records and all pages of backed-up files and PostgreSQL snapshots. Backup downloads reflect existing synced data. Check their timestamps and export unsynced files and a fresh database dump from your computer before the deadline. Keep the downloaded files in a location you control.
For migration, copy your home files to your new Matrix home and restore database snapshots into your own PostgreSQL database. Open your existing computers from the deletion page while completing the move. No automatic migration to another hosting provider is performed.
Transfer ownership of organizations and shared projects before requesting deletion. Organization and other members' shared data remains with its owners. Moving a project also requires moving any storage hosted on your personal computer to a retained computer.
Five-day grace period
A confirmed deletion request schedules erasure after five days. Future subscription billing stops as part of accepting the request; if cancellation is temporarily unavailable, the page shows that it is pending and the platform retries. There is no automatic refund or prorated invoice.
Existing eligible computers stay accessible during the grace period so you can export and migrate. New purchases, provisioning and backup writes are blocked. Data that you edit after requesting deletion must be exported directly from the computer, because backups no longer accept new writes.
The page shows the erasure start time. Final backup cleanup can take an additional day while existing upload links expire. Temporary service failures can extend the completion target, and cleanup retries automatically.
Cancel or complete deletion
Choose Cancel account deletion before erasure begins. Cancellation is unavailable while billing cancellation is still running; retry after it finishes. Cancelling deletion does not restart billing. Review your subscription before continuing normal use.
After the deadline, the platform removes your personal computers, backups, integrations and personal platform records, revokes available verified Apple sign-in credentials, and deletes your login last. Downloads and cancellation close when erasure begins. A minimal record of the request and nonidentifying accounting totals remains so repeat requests and delayed billing notifications can be handled safely.
If you used Sign in with Apple, after your Matrix account is deleted, check your Apple Account and remove Matrix OS if it is still listed using Apple's instructions. The page keeps this guidance available through completion, even if Apple credentials become unavailable during cleanup. Missing Apple credentials do not keep your personal data or billing active. Removing Apple access alone does not delete your Matrix account.
This process permanently removes personal data. Copies already downloaded by you or other people, and data owned by organizations or other collaborators, remain under their owners' control.
