Founder's Associate — GTM & Operations

Help make computers built for AI agents understood, trusted, and adopted.

Work directly with the founder to turn conversations and opportunities into momentum across customer research, storytelling, launches, sales, PR, partnerships, community, and company operations.

About Matrix

Matrix is building a personal cloud computer for the AI-agent era: a persistent environment where people run coding agents, tools, applications, and long-running work without tying everything to one laptop.

  • AI agents need more than chat windows. They need computers of their own: durable environments with memory, software, files, permissions, and the ability to keep working across devices.
  • We are an early-stage team building the product while using it ourselves every day. Customer conversations influence what we build. Technical breakthroughs become stories and demos. Friction becomes the next thing we fix.
  • We are defining a category, not simply competing inside an established one. Helping people understand why this future matters is central to the role.

The role

We are looking for a high-agency generalist to work directly with the founder and help build the commercial side of Matrix.

  • You will move between customer research, storytelling, launches, sales, PR, partnerships, community, and company operations.
  • You will not wait for a finished strategy and execute one assigned piece. You will help discover the strategy by talking to users, testing ideas, building relationships, and turning what we learn into action.
  • This is a hands-on role. You will do the work, learn quickly, and help us decide what deserves more investment.

What you'll do

  • Talk to users, leads, and prospective customers.
  • Run customer interviews and turn conversations into product and positioning insights.
  • Own thoughtful follow-ups with leads, partners, journalists, investors, candidates, and community members.
  • Build and manage the sales pipeline, from research and outreach through follow-up and close.
  • Write outreach, launch copy, press pitches, case studies, founder content, and sales materials.
  • Support product launches, PR, announcements, partnerships, and community initiatives.
  • Run focused GTM experiments across content, outbound, events, partnerships, and distribution.
  • Create product demos and customer stories that make a technical product easy to understand.
  • Keep important conversations moving so opportunities do not fall through the cracks.
  • Research markets, competitors, potential customers, and emerging distribution channels.
  • Build lightweight systems for CRM, reporting, and company operations.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous projects that do not yet have an obvious owner.

A week might include

  • Interviewing a founder who runs several coding agents across multiple devices.
  • Turning a late-night product breakthrough into a demo people actually understand.
  • Finding the ten people who should see that demo first.
  • Following up with a lead before the founder remembers to ask.
  • Helping a journalist understand why agents need computers, not just chat windows.
  • Hosting a dinner, meetup, or user session that creates unexpected connections.
  • Testing Matrix and finding the bug that would have ruined tomorrow's demo.
  • Building a small AI workflow because doing the same task manually twice feels suspicious.

How we work

  • High agency. You notice what needs to happen, propose a direction, and move it forward.
  • Storytelling. You turn technical work, customer insights, and founder observations into ideas people remember.
  • Real relationships. You are curious about people, remember what matters to them, and follow up thoughtfully.
  • Closed loops. Conversations become decisions, next steps, introductions, experiments, or clear no's.
  • Close to users. You prefer direct conversations and observed behavior over assumptions.
  • AI as leverage. You build faster ways to research, write, organize, and execute.
  • Care for craft. You have taste in writing, communication, demos, and how the company presents itself.
  • Speed with judgment. You distinguish reversible experiments from decisions that deserve more care.
  • Range. You enjoy moving between a customer interview, a sales follow-up, a launch, and an unexpected company problem.
  • Good energy. We are ambitious, kind, direct, curious, and enjoyable to build alongside.

Our culture is closer to a small creative studio crossed with an ambitious product lab than a traditional corporate marketing team. We take the mission seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

What we're looking for

  • Exceptional written and spoken English.
  • Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to make technical ideas understandable.
  • Evidence of high agency: you have independently taken an ambiguous project from idea to concrete result.
  • Confidence speaking with users, customers, partners, journalists, and senior stakeholders.
  • Natural relationship-building ability and reliable follow-through.
  • Commercial judgment and comfort with outreach, follow-ups, and sales conversations.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI agents, developer tools, startups, and how new categories are created.
  • Comfort using AI tools as part of your daily work.
  • The judgment to operate with speed, discretion, and care.
  • Significant overlap with European working hours.

Helpful, but not required

  • Experience at an early-stage startup.
  • Experience in customer research, founder-led sales, community, PR, recruiting, partnerships, journalism, or consulting.
  • Familiarity with developer products or technical audiences.
  • A public body of work such as writing, events, projects, communities, interviews, or content.
  • Experience building a CRM or lightweight operating system from scratch.

We care more about judgment, energy, communication, and evidence that you make things happen than about a specific degree, background, or previous title.

What success looks like

  • Every important lead and relationship has a clear next step.
  • Customer interviews happen consistently and influence product decisions.
  • Sales and partnership follow-ups are fast, thoughtful, and organized.
  • We run focused GTM experiments and learn from them.
  • Launches, content, PR, and demos move from ideas to shipped work.
  • The founder spends less time chasing loose ends and more time on high-leverage decisions.

What this role offers

  • High cash compensation and meaningful equity ownership.
  • Direct collaboration with the founder.
  • Broad exposure across product, GTM, sales, PR, partnerships, and company building.
  • Significant ownership from the beginning.
  • The opportunity to shape both the role and Matrix's commercial engine.
  • A steep learning curve with real responsibility.
  • Remote work with substantial overlap with European working hours.

This role suits someone who wants to become a founder, early-stage operator, or commercial leader and wants the intensity and range that come with building from the beginning.
